Plan A Summary:

I.  Fire Management

  • Any further logging activity and clear-cutting of the forest will be immediately discontinued
  • Development of the Crimson Mountain areas and the Mineral Mountain Estates will be denied
  • No controlled burns will be instituted -- nature will be allowed to take its course

II.  Yellow-Breasted Toad

  • Until the cause of the toad’s disappearance is identified, the Forest will prohibit any further ecological disruption of the Wamasana Bottom and the Crimson Hills, Crimson Peak, and Red Park areas
  • Backcountry access will be prohibited
  • Light recreational use will only be permitted on designated trails

III.  Wamasana River

  • The Forest management will petition the federal government to have the Wamasana River designated as a Wild & Scenic River
  • The Forest will immediately begin pollution abatement of the River
  • All recreational uses of the river will be curtailed until abatement is completed

IV.  Mineral Mountain Estates

  • The development of the Mineral Mountain Estates and the proposed road will not be permitted
  • Campfires and hunting will also be prohibited, as they pose additional threats to the integrity of the area.
