Mission: Interests:
Positions: Pure Nature advocates neither FuturePlan or SmartPlan. Instead, they advocate what they call FuturePlan (their own creation). They feel that both plans are fundamentally flawed in that they allow for destructive levels of environmental encroachment and destruction. They strongly oppose the widespread and largely unregulated growth that FuturePlan would allow and feel that FuturePlan would overburden the resources that local environment is able to support (including clean air and water). Their FuturePlan includes a radical rethinking of urban design and resource use. They feel that automobiles should be replaced by mass transit systems and pedestrian friendly transportation like bicycling should be given priority over current vehicle use. Also, instead of relying on natural resources like coal and petroleum to power the cities buildings and industries, the city should utilize recent advances in wind, hydrogen, and solar power to eliminate the majority of pollutants and byproducts produced by current energy sources. Certain members of the group have been cited as stating that if FuturePlan goes into effect, Pure Nature will "do everything in their powe"r to ensure that their position is heard and growth is "brought to a screeching halt."
